After Your Training

Once you have completed your hot air balloon pilot training, including the written/knowledge test (as required), you will need the Practical Test, commonly called a checkride; the “final test” in order to obtain your Private, Commercial or Add-On pilot certification. The test has both oral questioning plus flying tasks. To prepare for the Practical Test you need to be very familiar with the Practical Test Standards that are available to download for free from the FAA webite and are also available as hard copies for purchase.
